Kathmandu. Health and Population Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that no Nepalese should be deprived of treatment due to financial shortage.
Minister Basnet said that on the occasion of a comprehensive free health camp and blood donation program organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality Social Welfare Division, Public Health Branch and Lifeline Health Care Home Pvt Ltd at Jawalakhel on Wednesday, every hospital would reserve 10% beds for the underprivileged and provide free treatment to the majority of the poor and helpless. He said that he is in a condition to receive treatment.
Minister Basnet said, 'According to the recommendation made by the ward chairman in the local body for the poor, all hospitals should fulfill their obligations by providing free treatment, this will solve most of the problems.'
Stating that by increasing the tax on tobacco products, treatment of the poor can be provided free of charge, Minister Basnet has promised to stop the campaign after completing it. Claiming that since the time of covid-19, he has been carrying medicines, oxygen cylinders and surgical materials to various districts for free treatment of patients, Minister Basnet emphasized that thousands of patients will also benefit from free health camps.
Minister Basnet said that health is the greatest asset and suggested that every person should set aside one hour daily for their health. Health Minister Basnet honored various people who contributed to the free health camp in the program by wearing a dosalla.
The honorees are Gayatri Dahal, Moti Shanti Shakya, Laxminarayan Singh Suwal, Gyan Maharjan and Shiv Narayan Sah. Lifeline Health Care Home, which was established during the time of Covid-19, has been providing treatment services as a polyclinic for the past 8 months.
Samir Joshi, Ward of Director of Health Care Home, said that it has been facilitating the treatment of poor patients by conducting health camps in different parts of the country. According to Joshi, health care in collaboration with Kathmandu Medical College gives a 50% discount on surgeries performed at Kathmandu Medical College to patients who have been referred from various hospitals.
