Health and Population Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that his goal is to ensure that no one is deprived of health facilities due to poverty.
At a comprehensive free health camp and blood donation program organized by Lifeline Health Home Care at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur today, he said that the campaign started by making an action plan so that no one is deprived of health facilities due to poverty within five years is continuing.
"My goal is that within five years in Nepal, no one is deprived of health facilities due to poverty, for that, by making certain action plans and standards, the campaign will continue to be done with billions of money collected from tobacco products. No matter how bad the situation is, it should be dealt with", Minister Basnet said.
He insisted on ensuring the rights and privileges provided by the constitution. He said, "All hospitals must treat the poor and helpless, even though there was an agreement that 10 percent of all treatment services provided by the hospitals at the time of approval should be given to low-income, poor and destitute patients, it was not implemented. After I came, circulars were issued throughout the country. I have emphasized to implement it.
He informed that a standard has been made for that and in 22 districts, there are citizens who have got poverty and destitution cards, and apart from that, arrangements have been made to treat poor and destitute people on the recommendation of elected ward representatives in the district. He says that it is the responsibility of the state to provide free treatment to poor people.
Minister Basnet pointed out that it is necessary to make the citizens aware so that they do not need treatment when people are suffering from expensive treatment. He emphasized on the need to set aside one hour a day for physical exercise and to encourage people to pay attention to proper diet.
Sameer Joshi, a member of the board of directors of Lifeline Health Home Care, said that this health institution, which has been operating as a home care for two years, has been providing services as a polyclinic for eight months. "We are conducting health camps across the country in collaboration with Kathmandu Medical College under the slogan of 'Veteran Health Veteran Society', now we are conducting health camps throughout Bagmati Province, we have arranged for a 50% discount in the college for those who come to the camp who need surgery", he said. Although we are a private organization, we have not been centralized in profit, we have also collaborated with nursing colleges, we have reached the homes of senior citizens and provided services at a minimum fee.
General Medicine, General Surgery, Pathology, Gynecology, Paediatrics, Dentistry, Orthopedics, Nose, Ear, Throat, Eye, ECG, Video X in the extensive health camp and blood donation program conducted by Lifeline Health Home Care with the support of various organizations and technical collaboration with Kathmandu Medical College. - Dr. Vipu Dhakal informed that services will be available for problems such as ray, diabetes, uric acid etc.
